Inion® GTRTM Biodegradable Membrane SystemPurpose of the system Inion is applying its Inion Optima™ polymers in dental areas to guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and guided bone regeneration (GBR) where periodontal disease or trauma results in bone and tissue loss. The aim of this is to create a stronger foundation in the jaw for future reconstructive dental surgery, such as the setting of dental implants. System description The Inion GTR™ Biodegradable Membrane System acts as a barrier between bone and faster-healing soft tissue, creating a space for new tissue or bone to develop. The membrane is softened before application in a biocompatible plasticising solution, which allows the membrane to be cut and moulded to fit exactly the space. The Inion GTR™ membrane stiffens in contact with water, holding the membrane in a fixed shape over the wound and maintaining the space beneath. The Inion GTR™ Biodegradable Membrane System consists of membranes and tacks made of Inion Optima™ biomaterial. This material biodegrades in situ after 8-12 weeks.
Inion GTRTM Biodegradable Membrane System implants are sterile, non-collagenous and non-pyrogenic. Indications The Inion GTRTM Biodegradable Membrane System is indicated for the surgical treatment of periodontal defects (e.g. Class 1 and 2 furcation defects, intrabony defects and recession-type defects), for pre-implant and peri-implant surgery and for covering bone defects and empty sockets.
