Inion® OTPSTM Fixation System - The First Complete Biodegradable Fixation System for the AnkleIndications The Inion OTPSTM Biodegradable Fixation System is generally intended for the maintenance of reduction and fixation of cancellous bone fractures, osteotomies and arthrodesis of the upper extremity, ankle and foot in presence of appropriate brace and/or immobilization. Description The Inion OTPSTM Biodegradable Fixation System consists of fixation screws and plates made of biodegradable polylactic acid/trimethylenecarbonate copolymer. This copolymer biodegrades in vivo by hydrolysis into L-lactic acid, D-lactic acid and TMC.
The Inion OTPSTM Ankle System loses most of its strength after 18-36 weeks and bioresorbs thereafter. OTPSTM Biodegradable Fixation System implants are sterile, non-collagenous and non-pyrogenic.
