Inion® OTPSTM Biodegradable PinsDescription The Inion OTPSTM Biodegradable Pins are made of biodegradable co-polymers composed of L-lactide, D-lactide and TMC (Trimethylenecarbonate). The implants degrade by hydrolysis and over a period of time are metabolised through natural processes in the body into carbon dioxide and water which are then exhaled and excreted.
The pins are dyed green for better visualization during surgical procedure by a minimal amount of D&C green no. 6 which is commonly used in biodegradable sutures.
The Inion OTPSTM Pins are sterile, non-collagenous and non-pyrogenic. The Inion OTPSTM Biodegradable Pins gradually lose their strength after 18-36 weeks. Total biodegradation takes place within two to four years. The Inion OTPSTM Pins are supplied sterile and are available in two diameters (1.5/2.0 mm) and in lengths of 20-50 mm.
