New video available: Inion BioRestore™ morsel preparation in syringe

We have recently published a new surgical technique video demonstrating the preparation of Inion BioRestore™ synthetic bone graft substitute morsels in a syringe prior to implantation. The video provides a step-by-step guide to preparing Inion BioRestore™ morsels by mixing them with the patient’s blood to achieve optimal handling characteristics before implantation.

Step-by-step instructions on the video:

  1. Gently tap the container to release the morsels from the cap.
  2. Open the cap slightly to allow air into the syringe.
  3. Pull the piston of the syringe back to be fully extended.
  4. While holding the syringe upright, open the cap.
  5. Add the patient’s blood carefully (1:1) into the syringe.
  6. Partially close the cap.
  7. Push the piston up.
  8. Close the cap fully.
  9. Turn the syringe slowly around to wet the morsels completely.
  10. If needed, move the piston slowly back and forth to enhance moistening, but be cautious not to pressurize the container excessively. Repeat as needed to make sure all morsels are wet.
  11. Allow to set until the morsels have soaked up the blood and the mixture has thickened as desired. The maximum recommended immersion time is 60 minutes.
  12. Open the cap before implantation.

About Inion BioRestore™

Bioactive glass surgical morsels for bone grafting and regenerative surgery applications, designed to support bone healing and bioactive tissue integration.

Inion BioRestore™ is a synthetic, bioactive, and bioabsorbable bone graft substitute designed for the filling, restoration, and augmentation of bony voids and gaps. The product is composed of degradable bioactive glass that, upon contact with body fluids, forms a silica gel and calcium phosphate layer that serves as a scaffold for new bone formation.

Laboratory studies have demonstrated that Inion BioRestore™ possesses antibacterial, osteoconductive, and osteostimulative properties, supporting the bone healing process while helping create a favorable environment for bone regeneration. You can find out more about the Antibacterial, Osteoconductive and Osteostimulative Properties of Inion BioRestore™ from our white paper. Inion BioRestore™ is a CE-marked medical device (Class III), manufactured by Inion Oy.

Indications and benefits

Inion BioRestore™ is intended to fill bone defects and provide a matrix for new bone formation while the implant degrades. The new bone formation is achieved by the bone growth supporting and stimulating (i.e. osteoconductive and osteostimulative) properties of the porous bioactive material.

Inion BioRestore™ bone graft substitute is gradually resorbed and replaced by new bone within 6 months in vivo. Its highly porous and fully open structure, composed of fibers welded together, enables better flow of fluid, cells and nutrients while allowing new bone formation throughout the structure, inside and out. Inion BioRestore™ provides controlled and significantly faster resorption and replacement by bone compared to other commercially available products, including hydroxyapatite (HA) and other bioactive glass products.

Inion BioRestore™ is available in morsel and shaped block formats. This video demonstrates the preparation of the morsel format supplied in a convenient syringe for easy handling and application.
